Northern Ireland Musicians Inspire Brussels Audience

To round off 2015, the Brussels Office, in collaboration with the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, hosted a Seasonal Reception and Evening of Opera for key contacts from the European Commission, Permanent Representations, Regional Offices and other Brussels-based organisations.

The stars of the show were Sinead O’Kelly (Soprano), Dawn Burns (Mezzo Soprano) and Ruth McGinley (Piano). The trio, who received multiple standing ovations, delighted our audience with a varied repertoire featuring Mozart, Purcell and Co. Down-born composer Hamilton Harty, as well as some seasonal favourites.

Guests enjoyed a Northern Ireland inspired menu, including Lough Neagh Eels kindly supplied by Lough Neagh Fishermans Cooperative and prepared using a recipe provided by chef Paula McIntyre.

The event also provided an excellent opportunity for informal networking whilst showcasing Northern Ireland’s outstanding musical talent.  The support and cooperation of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland has been much appreciated in putting on this event and others throughout 2015 as part of The Brussels Platform, aimed at promoting the Culture & Creativity of Northern Ireland to a European audience.
