Education Authority Visit Brussels

Head of Office Andrew Elliott with the Education Authority Group

The ONIEB had pleasure in assisting the Education Authority for Northern Ireland in organising a visit for managers and senior officers from a range of regional statutory and voluntary youth organisations to Brussels from the 5th to the 8th of February.

The group had a busy schedule of meetings over three days including with representatives from DG Education and Culture, the UK Permanent Representation, the Ireland Permanent Representation, and with MEPs and non-governmental organisations.

The purpose of the visit was to increase their awareness and understanding of the European youth policy context and its relationship and impact on national policies; increase awareness and understanding of the European structures, institutions and organisations; develop a greater understanding of the Erasmus+ programme and the opportunities it provides for young people and youth workers; highlight the importance of international experience in youth work and young people’s non-formal learning; and build capacity for organisations to undertake international partnership projects.
