On the 14th of June the Office of the Northern Ireland Executive in Brussels (ONIEB) co-hosted a successful concert as part of TradFest Belgium 2017 in collaboration with the Irish Embassy to Belgium, with the support of the Arts Council NI.
The 100 plus attendees, including the UK Ambassador to Belgium Alison Rose and the Irish Ambassador to Belgium, Eamonn MacAodha, were treated to regional food and drink from Northern Ireland and music from Connla, a young Northern Irish group, and from Tríona and Maighread Ní Dhomnaill from the Donegal Gaeltacht.
Connla took to the stage first and impressed the crowd with their unique style of traditional music and demonstrated exactly how they are taking the traditional scene by storm. After a short pause to enjoy the food and drink on offer Tríona and Maighread Ní Dhomnaill entertained those assembled and were even joined for a few songs by Liam Ó Maonlaí, perhaps best known for having been lead singer in Hothouse Flowers.
