We are delighted to bring you this week’s edition of our Newsletter which features Northern Ireland art, music and recipes, as well as, some spooky Halloween celebrations.

While we cannot enjoy in person the famous festivities in Derry-Londonderry this Halloween, we can embrace the wonderful online programme, packed with an array of exciting events and experiences. Before the Halloween celebrations begin, tune into Belfast Music Society’s Northern Lights Mini-Fest to be treated to some fantastic musical performances from Northern Ireland. Further discover Northern Ireland artistic talent with the Royal Ulster Academy of Arts Annual Exhibition at the Ulster Museum. Lastly, we are pleased to feature recipes from local chef Paula McIntyre MBE who has previously provided exquisite tastes of Northern Ireland at events held in our Brussels office.

Derry Halloween

This October Derry Halloween has been bubbling away, brewing up a brilliant festival for you to enjoy. The Halloween festival programme features an array of events including spooky tales little horrors; Samhain sessions for music lovers and online tutorials in everything from broomstick-making to cocktail-shaking. This year’s 'Awakening' will also see some ghostly friends come back to life to share the story of Samhain. The festival runs from 28 October to 1 November on the Derry Halloween website.

Belfast Music Society Northern Lights Mini-Fest

Belfast Music Society, in association with Belfast International Arts Festival, present “Northern Lights Mini-Fest”. The online event features many concerts and recitals. In partnership with Queen’s University School of Arts, English and Languages, Pianist Barry Douglas, will perform an all-Russian programme of Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Rachmaninov and Mussorgsky, on Monday 26 October at 6pm. On Tuesday 27 October at 8pm, Ulster Orchestra Ensemble will perform music from Mozart, Ravel, Glazunov, Strauss and De Falla, from the beautiful setting of Belfast’s Waterfront Hall. Paula McIntyre's Recipe Collection

Check out delicious recipes from Chef Paula McIntyre MBE, as featured on BBC Northern Ireland’s John Toland’s show. The recipe collection includes starters and side dishes; main courses; fish dishes and desserts, as well as, biscuits and baking. Paula is a leading Northern Ireland chef and has performed live cookery demonstrations using Northern Irish produce in a number of renowned institutions including the House of Commons and the European Parliament. You may remember her from when she prepared many wonderful Northern Ireland dishes at various events hosted in our Office in Brussels.

139th Royal Ulster Academy Annual Exhibition

The Royal Ulster Academy of Arts Annual Exhibition is one of the most eagerly anticipated exhibitions in the Northern Ireland cultural calendar, providing a unique platform for acclaimed artists and emerging talent to showcase their artwork at the Ulster Museum. The exhibition contains 250 examples of paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography and video. This year the exhibition can be experienced online, bringing art to people wherever they are. Check out the collection on the RUA website, available until 3 January 2021.
