Northern Ireland contributors are involved in some great events for European Week of Regions and Cities 2021. The Brussels Office is working alongside European Partners to host a virtual event as part of the main programme for the week.
Cohesion and IPA policy for the twin transitions: lessons from local and regional authorities.

Wednesday 13 October 2021 9:30am-11:00am

Local and regional authorities (LRAs) have long been using cohesion policy to deliver projects that make a real and significant difference in the lives of citizens. Today, their role is more pivotal than ever in boosting the recovery and improving the EU's resilience. The contributions will focus on the holistic use of EU funds by LRAs, showcasing best practices in implementing the twin transitions at local level, contributing to the post-pandemic recovery and making the best use of NextGenerationEU to this end.
Northern Ireland will also be involved in the #EURegionsWeek workshop titled How the Northern Periphery responded to COVID-19: a success story of cohesive working. Dr Joan Condell from Ulster University will be one of the speakers discussing the success of the collaborative project.
