Dear colleagues and friends,

It is very poignant that this week we celebrated International Nurses Day on the day that also marks 200 years since the birth of Florence Nightingale. The Ulster Museum has a special digital exhibition to mark the occasion and the impact of Florence Nightingale in NI. It is a fitting way to remind ourselves of how important her work was and to be grateful for all those who have followed in her footsteps to look after our health and wellbeing.

As we move from spring to summer, there are number of outdoor sports and events that we look forward to which unfortunately cannot take place this year. We have some ideas in the newsletter for how you can still enjoy and remember some of the great events in the past and look forward to seeing them take place again. For a limited time only over the weekend you can experience the excitement of the International North West 200 through the eyes of legendary racer Robert Dunlop in Between the Hedges.

There is lots more too this week: NI Opera Club recommendations for online Opera and the ‘Best of Belfast’ podcasts for culture vultures as well as tips for making our traditional breakfast for the foodies.
As always, we hope you and your families are well and please do not hesitate to get in touch with us, especially if you have any great recommendations for future newsletters.

Best Wishes,
Lynsey Moore, Director

A Night at the Opera

Enjoy a night at the Opera from the comfort of your own home. NI opera has launched an Opera Club which gives weekly suggestions of a ‘classic’ and a ‘discovery’ opera or classical performance you can watch online. Not only do they give great recommendations but they also provide some context and background so whether you are an expert on all things opera or an opera novice, you can get the most out of watching the recommended productions.

The Perfect Traditional Breakfast

We didn’t get the chance to share our traditional breakfast with colleagues in Brussels this year but you can experience a taste of Northern Ireland in your home this week. Make sure to cook along with Joyce from Blackwell House in County Down and make the perfect Ulster Fry. Discover Northern Ireland also lets you into a few kitchen secrets and explains how to make this favourite breakfast, where it comes from and what makes it so unique.
