Oh Yeah Music Centre present a week long music festival concluding with the highly sought after NI Music Prize while Belfast Photo Festival and Belfast Design Week are running a number of events celebrating Northern Ireland photography and design. SportNI offer an inspirational video from 87 year old marathon runner Ken Jones, and Northern Ireland chef David Simpson provides a delicious recipe for apple pie.

Sound of Belfast 2020 & the NI Music Prize

The Oh Yeah Music Centre has launched its 2020 Sound of Belfast programme which runs from 6 - 12 November. The festival includes online musical performances from Northern Ireland artists Ryan McMullan, Duke Special, Jealous of the Birds, Scott Flannigan Trio, Ruth McGinley, Brand New friend, a spotlight on great projects plus industry workshops and talks. On the last day of the festival Oh Yeah Music Centre will host the virtual NI Music Prize. Streamed live on YouTube, the awards plan to bring as much live experience as possible to audiences at home. The ceremony will be hosted by Gemma Bradley and Rigsy and include shortlisted acts from Arborist, Careerist, Joshua Burnside, Kitt Philippa, Phil Kieran and Sasha Samara. Belfast Photo Festival 2020: XX-XY

Northern Ireland’s premier visual arts festival, the Belfast Photo Festival will host a series of online events from 4 to 30 November 2020. The thematically diverse line up of contemporary photography from the island of Ireland celebrates the female gaze, reframing the world through the manifold perspectives, styles and subject matters captured by the women behind the camera. The events and exhibitions feature artistic approaches to representation, self-portraiture, landscape and fashion, as well as truthful and contemplative depictions centring around equality and the body. Belfast Design Week: Environment

Belfast Design Week celebrates communities, cultures and individuals that make Belfast the gem of a creative city. The annual festival features events, exhibitions and experiences that inspire Belfast’s creative community while opening up conversations about design in all its forms. The theme this year, is ‘Environment’ and will include an interactive pop-up design museum, many events, articles, podcasts & more. The festival will run from the 8 to 12 November. Homemade Apple Pie with the Isolation Chef

What better way to spend a winter evening than making a delicious apple pie! Northern Ireland chef David Simpson shares cooking and baking and recipes for you to try out at home. Included is a beautiful traditional comforting recipe for Apple Pie! You can check out the recipe here and learn about David’s journey in setting up his Facebook page to help people with their baking and coping during isolation

Sport NI ‘Mental Health for All’

Sport NI introduces 87 year old Ken Jones as ‘an absolute inspiration to us all’. Ken lives in Strabane, County Tyrone and has completed over 112 marathons, and is planning his next one. In his video for the SportNI YouTube channel, Ken speaks about the important role regular exercise, friendship and perseverance play in looking after his physical and mental health. Sport NI promote working together to break down the barriers to seeking help and remove the stigma around mental health.
