In partnership with the British Council and supported by the UK Mission to the EU and the Permanent Representation of Ireland to the EU, we are pleased to host ‘Lives Entwined: Shifting Borders, Shifting Identity’. Join us on 24 November to hear readings from Northern Ireland authors Ian Marshall and Susan McKay followed by a live Q&A and panel discussion.

In addition to our online event, this week’s Newsletter showcases Northern Ireland’s film, literature and food. The 33rd Annual Foyle Film Festival takes place digitally this weekend, as does the C.S. Lewis Festival which features a number of virtual events. Lives Entwined: Shifting Borders, Shifting Identity

There is still time to register for our virtual event ‘Lives Entwined: Shifting Borders, Shifting Identity’ on Tuesday 24 November at 14:00 CET. Join Northern Ireland authors Susan McKay and Ian Marshall as they reflect on their contributions to the fifth volume of 'Britain & Ireland: Lives Entwined'. The event will feature readings from the authors, a panel discussion and Q&A moderated by Sir Ciarán Devane, British Council Chief Executive, along with contributions from our director Lynsey Moore, Eamonn Mac Aodha from the Permanent Representation of Ireland to the EU and Rory O'Donnell from the UK Mission to the EU.

Foyle Film Festival

Derry~Londonderry’s Foyle Film festival returns with a virtual programme from the 20-29 November. Now in its 33rd year the Festival is one of only a handful of international festivals with Oscar affiliation, BAFTA and BIFA recognition. Funded by the Department for Communities through Northern Ireland Screen, by Derry City and Strabane District Council and Tourism NI; Foyle Film Festival delivers a comprehensive programme of documentaries, short films and feature films from all over the world. C.S Lewis Festival

The C.S. Lewis Festival celebrates the legacy of acclaimed Belfast born author C.S. Lewis, known for literary works such as The Chronicles of Narnia. The festival will honour Lewis through themes of storytelling, imagination and spirituality with events including talks, lectures and tours, exhibitions, workshops, theatre, poetry spoken word events and film screenings, a number of which will be held online. Let's Cook - Winter Warmers

Join Northern Ireland Rural Women’s Network for a series of online cookery workshops. The cooking demonstrations will show you how to create tasty comfort food such as apple crumbles and cottage pies to sustain you through the colder nights ahead. The classes run every Wednesday night at 7pm BST until 9 December. Register your interest here.

Panarts: Let it Grow, From Seed to Song

Let it Grow, From Seed to Song is a series of music videos recorded by Northern Ireland singer-songwriters with Panarts. Panarts are the organisers behind the much acclaimed Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival. The first songwriter featured in the series is Donal Scullion with his song ‘Shipwrecked’ which is available on the Arts Council of Northern Ireland YouTube page.
