Dear friends and colleagues,

At the end of January, the team are delighted to share with you more fantastic experiences from Northern Ireland. We have beautiful words from Abby Oliveira filmed in Belfast during lockdown, a series of Podcasts from Small But Massive exploring musical journeys with NI artists. A different genre will take you to the opera every Tuesday with Associate Artists.

Finally, why not learn how to bake a Fruit Soda Bannock with Tracey from her farm near the shores of Strangford Lough. We hope you enjoy the selection from Northern Ireland and that you and your loved ones are safe and well.

Best Wishes,
Lynsey Moore, Director

Musical Journeys: Small But Massive Podcast

Twenty years ago the first ever podcast was uploaded! With the help of @ArtsCouncilNI, individuals from the community were able to launch their own podcasts. The Small But Massive podcast is hosted by Paddy Glasgow, co-founder of Glasgowbury Festival & Creative Hub. In this series local artists join Paddy to explore their musical journeys while Paddy brings a bit of random madness and craic to the mix. This initial series of 10 podcasts and music recordings is supported by Arts Council of NI’s Creative Seeds Fund and Mid Ulster District Council.

NI Opera by the Associate Artists

Young artists have been brought together by Northern Ireland Opera to bring live music safely to communities during this pandemic. Each Tuesday for the next few weeks you can watch a new release from The Rosemary Street Sessions and where The Associate Artists performed and recorded arias, songs and duets in the beautiful setting of Rosemary Street Church in Belfast. The first film features soprano Catherine Donnelly performing Philip Martin’s arrangement of the WB Yeats poem, ‘The Lake Isle of Innisfree’. Watch here now and from 8pm each Tuesday.
