Black and Northern Irish Documentary

A new documentary showcasing the stories and experiences of black people growing up in Northern Ireland will be coming to our screens soon. BAFTA-nominated Stewart Kyasimire is working with Belfast director Lindsay Duke to portray what it is like to be Black and Northern Irish. The trailer was shot in Titanic Belfast and you can watch it here.

Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful Podcast

This year’s UN Climate Conference COP26 will be held in Glasgow and will mark the first time the Conference has taken place in the UK. This podcast takes a look at the main issues that are affecting Northern Ireland. In the second episode Queen’s University Belfast, John Barry, speaks about the Climate Emergency and the opportunities that have been created by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Why Women’s Writing Matters

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2021, Women Aloud NI present the Festival of Women’s Writing. From 6th to 12th March there will be a plethora of events including writing workshops to let your creativity flow, and performances to enjoy and experience the talent of Northern Irish women. Perfectly accompanying this is the announcement of Lucy Caldwell’s new novel which will be set in Belfast and follow the lives of two sisters during the Second World War.

Celebrating Women and Gender Equality in Northern Ireland

The MAC is presenting a number of online events for International Women’s Day 2021. An outstanding line-up of women cover an array of topics during the festival running from 4th to 11th March. Talks include ‘Soothing Stress and Living Well’, ‘Gender Representation in the Arts’ and ‘Money, Money, Money: A Gender Equal Economy’. It is sure to be an insightful and informative week!
