Our Newsletter will fill you in on some of the fabulous things taking place in Northern Ireland this week. There are some exciting new productions including Jan Carson’s monologue; Berni Kerr’s play about the life of a transgender man; and the opportunity to talk to award-winning set and theatre designer Leslie Travers. All this plus live music sessions from Ardhowen at Home, and environmental restoration to keep you walking on the Mourne Mountains. She Wants to be a What?

Sole Purpose Productions and Derry Playhouse present Berni Kerr’s gripping drama exploring the journey of a transgender man from a mother’s perspective. “It charts with empathy, incisiveness and dark humour the impact on their friends and family circle, and the support that is available”. Produced and directed by Patricia Byrne and supported by the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland through the Social Justice Small Grants Programme, the performance will go live at 8pm Thursday 6 May and will be followed by a Q&A with members of the transgender community.
