“May the Road Rise Up” performance at the Bozar

The Office of the Northern Ireland Executive in Brussels was delighted to welcome C21 Theatre Group to the Bozar Theatre, Brussels, for a sold out performance of “May the Road Rise Up”, written by Belfast playwright Rosemary Jenkins.

The fast paced one woman show followed Mia as she navigated the bumpy road of life which led to her living on the streets. Christine Clare (actress) brought to life not only the story of Mia but also of the various colourful characters she met along the way. The audience enjoyed a powerful performance which highlighted the real life problems associated with homelessness.

After the performance, Rosemary Jenkins was joined on stage by Stephen Kelly (director) and Christine Claire to discuss the play, its background and the process of bringing it to life on stage.

“May the Road Rise Up” is the ninth Northern Ireland play performed in Brussels as part of the #BrusselsPlatform, a joint collaboration by the Office of the Northern Ireland Executive in Brussels and the Art Council of Northern Ireland.

We are grateful to Rosemary Jenkins and the C21 Theatre Company for a wonderful showcase of some of the great talent Northern Ireland has to offer, and to Arts Council NI for their continued partnership.
