The Office spoke at a webinar organised through Irish College Leuven for Queen’s University Belfast MA Politics and MA Violence, Terrorism and Security students. This formed part of a series of webinars held for the students this semester, and provided a focus on the European dimension of their studies.
The historic Irish College in Leuven facilitates high-quality bespoke educational programmes for universities and the public sector from the island of Ireland. Engagement with the Irish College Leuven and Queen’s University Belfast students is an important and ongoing part of the Office of the Northern Ireland Executive in Brussels strategy for building on relationships and partnerships between Northern Ireland and key partners in Europe.
Due to current circumstances, all programmes are held online and our Deputy Director Nuala McNamee and Senior Policy Officer Ryan Somerville provided an overview of the work undertaken by the office as well as delving into the Protocol on Ireland and Northern Ireland.
This was a great opportunity to share our experience of working for the Northern Ireland Executive in Brussels and discuss some of the opportunities and challenges for the office. An engaging Q&A followed with some insightful questions posed.
We look forward to welcoming future students to the office once travel resumes safely.
