REMOVED at the BOZAR

The Office of the Northern Ireland Executive Brussels was delighted to welcome one of NI’s leading theatre companies, Prime Cut Productions, for a performance of ‘REMOVED’ at the BOZAR theatre.

The play focused on the experiences of a “Looked After” child growing up in care in Northern Ireland. Told from the prism of a single young man, REMOVED is based upon the real stories of Young People in Care across Northern Ireland, that were gathered through interviews by the playwright Fionnuala Kennedy.

The hard-hitting play is performed through an emotionally charged monologue delivered by Conor O’Donnell. Conor’s beautiful performance captured the vulnerability, anxiety and guilt that children in care often experience, but maintained a light-heartedness which endeared the character to the audience.

The universal themes of the play were well-received by the international audience. Following the performance our Director, Aodhán Connolly, gave a brief speech thanking everyone behind the wonderful production before welcoming attendees to a drinks reception, where they had the opportunity to discuss the important message of the play.

The ONIEB worked in collaboration with the Arts Council Northern Ireland and the Brussels Platform to host this special night, which marked another highlight of our events calendar.
