Last month, the Office of the Northern Ireland Executive in Brussels in collaboration with the Arts Council Northern Ireland and the Brussels Platform, welcomed Joyce Greenaway for a performance of ‘Whisk(e)y Wars’ at the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts, following standing ovations in London, Edinburgh, Dublin, Brighton and Belfast.
The play was introduced by ONIEB Director, Aodhán Connolly, before award winning writer-actor Joyce Greenaway took to the stage and captivated the audience with her one woman show.
Whisk(e)y Wars is a family saga about men, women, and whisk(e)y, as Tam Tully fights against tragedy and treachery to save her Ulster family distillery from ruin by crafting the Holy Grail of whiskey… the perfect single malt. The audience found the play witty, thought provoking and totally unpredictable.
The award-winning creative, Joyce Greenaway is one of the 7 major NI artists who was supported at the Edinburgh Fringe 2023 by Theatre and Dance NI, Arts Council NI, British Council NI & Belfast International Festival. She has worked at The Royal Court and major regional theatres with Debbie Tucker Green (Truth and Reconciliation), Sandi Toksvig (QI), Georgia Pritchett (Succession) and Alice Birch (Normal People).
Whisk(e)y Wars is the 10th play brought to Brussels as part of the office partnership with Arts Council Northern Ireland, and a much loved opportunity to showcase Northern Irish talent on the international scene.
