On 6 November the Ulster Farmers Union visited Brussels to set out its vision for ‘Our Place in Europe’. The event took place in the Office of the Northern Ireland Executive in Brussels and over 70 guests enjoyed some of the delicious food and drinks that are produced by our farmers.
Minister Muir, Minister for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs addressed the event and told the audience that “the decisions made at EU level have an impact on the sustainability and the profitability of farming in Northern Ireland. I am very aware of that and will work with Northern Ireland farmers to secure their place in Europe.”
The President of the Ulster Farmers Union, William Irvine, encouraged positive engagement with agricultural partners here in Brussels, calling the EU-NI agricultural relationship ‘vital’. He finished by showing a video from the Ulster Farmers Union presenting the gratitude Northern Irish producers have for the consumer in supporting and encouraging home-grown produce.
