Float performance 18th February 2025

The Brussels Platform, a collaboration between the Office of the Northern Ireland Executive in Brussels and the Arts Council Northern Ireland, welcomed a performance of ‘Float’, to Brussels on 18 February.  Float, a new play by Kirby Thompson and Orla Graham Produced by Crybaby Productions, was performed at the iconic Flagey performance arts building.

An ode to young Belfast student life (the dirty dishes, the broken windows, and the celebrity cardboard cut-outs) ‘Float’ captures the chaos of student life and the heart-breaking complexities of healing.

Described by the Irish Times as ‘A captivating story exploring the quiet terror of being in one’s 20s’, the play has been nominated for the Solas Nua New Voices Award, and has received the Keep it Fringe Award from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2024. After successful performances at the MAC Belfast, Edinburgh’s Assembly Roxy and the Dublin Fringe Festival, we were pleased to support the performance in Brussels.

‘Float’ is the 11th play brought to Brussels as part of the Brussels Platform partnership with Arts Council Northern Ireland, and a much loved opportunity to showcase Northern Irish talent on the international scene.
